This Is Your Brain On Drought

Stepping out of the apartment this morning I saw that the driveway had been soaked overnight. In spite of the obvious humidity in the air my first thought was that someone had gone and washed down the asphault, which runs the length of the building, in the wee hours of the morning. Or that there had been some kind of explosive event with the spigot that stands just outside my door.

Then my eyes flicked over the street. The roadway was damp. Exceedingly strange.

Then I saw them: droplets on the cars. On all the cars.

It rained last night while Los Angeles slept, and it has been so long since this had happened that I actually forgot what a morning after looks like.
