Welcome! No Proscenium is the leading online publication and podcast about the growing immersive arts & entertainment industry. In 2018 and 2019, we co-produced the Immersive Design Summit, a conference for creators, along with Adventure Design Group and Epic Immersive. In 2023, after two pandemic-related delays, The Next Stage Immersive Summit launched in Los Angeles, becoming the premiere immersive creator conference. No Proscenium is a project of The Immersive Experience Institute alongside our sister site Everything Immersive.
We at No Proscenium are focused on advancing the art, craft, and industry of immersive — physical and digital — through news, features, criticism, and analysis. NoPro covers immersive experiences that run the gamut: immersive theatre, virtual reality, escape rooms, installation art, marketing activations, live action role-playing, site-specific dance, and more.
No Proscenium started in late 2013 when founder and publisher Noah Nelson realized no one was tracking immersive/interactive work in Southern California. So he decided to start a newsletter compiling all of the productions popping up in the greater Los Angeles area. Next came show reviews, an immersive theatre podcast, and, in 2017, we started our event listings, the most comprehensive resource for immersive event listings, which are now housed on Everything Immersive.
As additional curators have hopped on board, we now cover works all over North America (and sometimes beyond) via our newsletter and reviews.
The center of our efforts is the No Proscenium web site, which has news, reviews, interviews, and feature articles from across the immersive spectrum. Our community also manifests itself in our Discord server and in the Facebook group Everything Immersive, which is a co-production with Room Escape Artist.
We believe strongly in transparency, safety, inclusivity, and community in whatever we do.
