The story of the speakeasy in Bangers Basement is full of mystery, complex human relationships, and hearsay. The speakeasy is owned and operated by Sylvia, a glamorous single mother, and her son, Dexter. Together, they maintain the mantra of the speakeasy to be “When you’re here, you’re home” — a testament to the one rule of the Speakeasy: no matter which side of the law you stand on, you’re safe to drink at Sylvia’s.
For the past several weeks, a member of the Barrow Gang has been robbing speakeasies all across Texas. At his most recent heist, he left a calling card announcing that Sylvia’s Speakeasy would be his last robbery — and he would complete it during business hours. Folks from all across Texas show up to Sylvia’s that night to see (and be part of) the antics that are certain to occur. Audience members, if they keep their eyes peeled, may just be able to figure out who the robber is and why they’ve decided Sylvia’s is their last big heist.
With ten characters breathing life into the bar and a script that totals about 185 pages, this is a story that is packed with enough detail and action to keep audience members engaged, interested, and interacting with the narrative as they hunt for the robber.
