About Last Night... is a playable crime thriller for 5 to 20 participants, hosted by 1 or 2 actors. The game is inspired by jubensha (scripted murder mysteries), escape rooms, role playing games, and social deduction games. Players wake up in the aftermath of a Silicon Valley underground rave that went wrong: Marcus Blackwood is dead, the police are on their way, and their memories have gone missing, locked up behind puzzles. Each player has a character, each character has their own motives and things they'd prefer to hide or secrets they'd like to out. At the end of the game, they have to come to a consensus on the story they'd like told about last night...
You'll be helping participants understand the complex gameplay, negotiate with each other in character, solve puzzles, unlock "memory tokens", and make decisions. There are a couple of loosely scripted moments, but most of the role is improvisatory: reacting to the players to encourage roleplay, giving hints on puzzles, troubleshooting any potential technical issues, and generally making sure everyone is having a great time.
