Based on true accounts from Central American and Mexican refugees, Carne y Arena immerses one participant at a time into the lives of a group of immigrants who are stopped at Mexican border by the border patrol. This stunning, compelling hyper-reality work combines the physical environment with virtual reality and was developed in conjunction with cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki, producer Mary Parent, and ILMxLAB. Carne y Arena has earned raves at Cannes, was given a Special Achievement Academy Award, and has consistently sold out during its international tour.
Recommended for ages 14 and up. Carne y Arena is not recommended for individuals with claustrophobia, heart conditions, back conditions, a history of seizures, epilepsy, and/or sensitivity to flashing lights. Content warning: guns, high stress/intense psychological situations.
