Local bartenders and restaurant servers in the DC-area have formed a new theatre company, Post Shift Theatre. Their first production is about the story of Ada Coleman, a female bartender (a rarity at the time) at the Savoy Hotel who invented the Hanky Panky cocktail, as well as her nemesis, Ruth Burgess, the other female bartender at the same hotel bar.
The immersive play recreates Coleman and Burgess’ first shift working together; Ruth and Ada reflect on their work and their rivalry while navigating a bar full of guests.
