We took two weeks off and soooo much happened.

For starters: the HERE Summit now, officially, has a Pilot Festival.

Coming to Pasadena March 27–29th, the Summit brings together the leaders of immersive art & entertainment from around the globe. It will also give 3-day badge holders a chance to check out a slew of work: Escape From Godot, Koryn Ann Wick’s Casting, Stashhouse LA, plus new work from the Speakeasy Society for starters.

There will also be all-new short form work from Siobhan O’Loughlin, Candle House Collective, and Keight Leighn.

And this is just the beginning of the Festival announcements. There are more to come in the weeks ahead.

PLUS: Our 2019 Immersive Audience Survey is still open. It’s a critical part of the next Immersive Industry Report!

Okay… let’s get into what we’ve missed since the last edition!

From Kathryn Yu, Executive Editor, No Proscenium:

HBO, Giant Spoon, and Mycotoo made a splash at a dinner they held at CES in Las Vegas this week to promote season 3 of Westworld. The mysterious invite asked questions like “Do you dread making everyday choices?” and “Have you ever experienced guilt after eating an animal product?” Attendees found themselves at a party thrown by Incite, a fictional company from the hit TV show, complete with actors who had memorized facts attendees had posted publicly to social media, sometimes bringing up years-old tweets in conversation.

Mashable found it an “insightful vision of the future” while CNet thought the event was actually the “least dystopian thing at CES this year.”

From Will Cherry, XR Correspondent for NoPro:

Job Simulator is the second VR title to go Platinum! I’m sure you know.

Oh! The Remedy. It’s a free story in Oculus Quill Theater for Quest. The whole thing was animated in Quill by Daniel Martin Peixe, and pretty darn amazing for a free short. It came out late last month but I encourage anyone to see it in Quest. That being said, some camera movement choices are not for beginners to VR. You might find yourself losing balance. But it’s a great display of pacing and beautiful art.

Dan Franke also recreated a scene from Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse using Quill! Check it out for free in the Quill Theater for Quest.
