IMMERSIVE DESIGN SUMMIT NEWS

At January’s Immersive Design Summit, Meow Wolf CEO Vince Kadlubek brought down the house with a keynote about changing the economic climate for artists. He began his talk by reflecting on how The Summit was a day he would never forget, one that felt like the birth of a new movement.

Vince and his team at Meow Wolf have backed those words up in a big way.

This week, we announced that Meow Wolf is coming on board as the Immersive Design Summit’s 2019 Marquee Sponsor.

Together with Meow Wolf, we will be able to award 40 scholarships to ensure that talented members of the immersive community can make their way to the Summit.

To reflect this, we have extended our application deadline to the end of November. Admissions will be rolling (so that you can reserve your flights and accommodations), so we encourage you to apply sooner rather than later! Scholarships will be highly competitive, and we want to make sure that they are reserved for those most in need, so if you are able to pay full price, we highly encourage you to apply at that level.

Meow Wolf and The Immersive Design Summit have always shared a set of values. Together, we believe in building up an immersive ecosystem that reflects the diversity of our globe, one in which artists can rise regardless of their economic starting place. At The Immersive Design Summit, our pursuit is always for the most dynamic possible mix of artists, creators, producers, and thinkers — spanning genres and geographies, demographics and economics.

We are on the hunt for more sponsorships so that we can provide scholarships for more artists. So, if you want to be like Meow Wolf and contribute to the growth of the immersive scene, reach out to inquire about sponsorship opportunities! More sponsors and more opportunities will be revealed in the coming days.

APPLY NOW! Applications close November 30.

The Immersive Design Summit is a co-production of No Proscenium, Epic Immersive, and First Person Travel.

ON THE PODCAST THIS WEEK

In the past year actress Karlie Blair has become a mainstay of the LA immersive theatre scene. She’s performed in such shows as Whisperlodge, the original production of Safehouse ’77, and The Lust Experience. With actress Keight Leighn she co-founded DR3AMLOGiKK, which has presented the improvised experience Snow Fridge, and a workshop production Broken Clocks. She’s also one of the leads in Shine On Collective’s Echoes in the Dark.

We caught up with the busy lady to talk about her work and her background as a graduate of UC Berkeley’s theatre program.
