What all happened this week in Immersive-Land?
We got a few more dribs and drabs of info about the upcoming Oculus Quest. The buzz around the upcoming Tribeca Film Festival’s Immersive programming continues to grow. Meow Wolf are officially opening their first dark ride, Kaleidoscape, in Denver this weekend (congrats!). Our friends over at IndieCade have announced new awards aimed specifically at immersive and interactive creators (and we’ve got an interview with them about that). Kent Bye of the Voices of VR podcast hosted a great discussion about ethical and moral dilemmas in mixed reality. And the fine folks over at the Playable Theatre project discussed the relationship between designing for participation and Marie Kondo. Yes, you read that correctly.
In NoPro land, we sent one of our NYC writers to a strange and surreal dream-based show and got his full report back; we interviewed a whole host of creators working across VR, game design, site-specific dance, participatory experiences, and more; sent out a juicy tidbit of news to our $5 and up backers on Patreon (ahem); and found the monsters hiding in the closet on the podcast.
All that, and much, much more below.

ON THE PODCAST THIS WEEK
Writer/Director David Ruzicka (Creep: Lore, The Willows) and creative producer Eric Vosmeier join host Noah Nelson to talk about their dark fantasy confection, I want to live in your mouth., that has transmogrified North Hollywood’s Zombie Joe’s Underground Theater into the stuff of childhood fever dreams.
It’s a conversation where we dig in deep into the various flavors of horror in immersive, and lessons learned over years of producing.
You can also read our own Kevin Gossett’s review of the show.
Head’s up: there’s some cursing at the start (my bad) but most of the episode is clean.
