‘OjO’ by Bricolage (2014)

A week of some milestones for NoPro, vampires, and more 🧛‍

This week in immersive news: we here at NoPro hit a bit of a milestone with our latest Q&A! We spoke with Pittsburgh’s Bricolage about their approach to making work and the family-friendly The Forest of Everywhere, meaning that we’ve now had the opportunity to interview a dozen different creators about what “immersive” means to them. Check our Bricolage’s interview below and check out our new Immersive 5 hub page to read them all.

We also put out a big issue of the North America newsletter this past week. This edition of our newsletter is still fairly new but we found nine new productions across the continent to feature. Holy cats! Nine!

Not on the list? Subscribe here. Already on the list? Please, tell a friend. NoPro relies upon word-of-mouth. The more people who know about this kind of works, the more this kind of work gets made.

There’s a whole bunch of work happening all over the USA and Canada this weekend so make sure you have your eye on our Now Playing pages.

What else? Noah goes back to his Vampire LARP roots in this week’s edition of the podcast; we found a fascinating-looking Immersive Design Residency at Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fallingwater this summer for VR/AR/MR makers; the folks behind Paradiso Escape Room (now owned by Escape Entertainment) announced their latest work, The Mastermind; and across the pond, interactive theatre company differencEngine (Hollow Hotel, The People’s Revolt, Heist) announced its closure and liquidation.

Lots of changes in immersive-land, folks. Lots of changes.

ON THE PODCAST THIS WEEK

It’s no secret that we have LARP roots here at No Proscenium, specifically Vampire LARP roots. So when we heard that there’s a “blockbuster” (aka bespoke) Vampire LARP coming to Texas in November — part of the relaunch of Vampire: the Masquerade which is happening all year long — we got very, very intrigued.

Which is how we ended up talking to Matthew Webb of Jackalope Live Action Studios, the company that is putting on this event called The Night In Question.

That’s not all Jackalope is up to, as they’re working on the Cyberpunk license and more, looking to introduce an emerging style of play to brand new audiences.

Break out the fangs, we’re going in.

(And check out The Jackalope Guide To Playing Hard and Safe.)
