‘Pornhub Nation,’ a new Instagram Palace in Los Angeles

A week of cowboys and vampires and conspiracies and porn

No Proscenium and Everything Immersive This Week is brought to you by:

It’s been a busy week here at NoPro. Our own Anthony Robinson wrote about his family’s love for Knott’s Berry Farm’s Ghost Town Alive. Senior AV Producer Cara Mandel took us deep into The Count’s Den in Los Angeles. Managing Editor Kathryn Yu succeeded in escaping the room in The Order in New York City. And Juliet Bennet Rylah took us into the selfie palace that is Porn Hub Nation in LA. Founder/Publisher of NoPro Noah Nelson had an amazing conversation with Sean Stewart on the podcast, one of the principal designers of the very first alternate reality game back in the day, The Beast. And we had another jam-packed issue of the North America newsletter. And new issues of the LA/NYC newsletters are on their way. Dang!

Many, many thanks to everybody who came to the NYC No Proscenium/Room Escape Artist/Everything Immersive meetup at the Marlton Hotel on Monday. It was so wonderful seeing the co-mingling of folks from the immersive theatre, LARP, escape room, and AR/VR/MR communities. If you couldn’t make it, don’t worry, we’ll have more soon.

What have you been seeing lately? We wanna know your faves! Tweet us with the hashtag #NoProLove on Twitter or Instagram!

And there’s so much more to come. We’re very excited to bring you coverage of the various upcoming San Diego Comic Con immersive activations. So stay tuned!

ON THE PODCAST THIS WEEK

Once upon a time Sean Stewart was a science fiction novelist. Then, one day, he got a call asking if he wanted to take part in a little world-building project. One based around a Steven Spielberg movie.

That movie was A.I. and that project would become known as “The Beast,” the first Alternate Reality Game. Now Sean works for Magic Leap, the secretive company in Florida that is working on augmented reality. But we’re not here to talk about that. We’re here to talk about making participatory stories.

Sean plays Jedi Master to Noah’s padawan learner. This is a very, very good episode.
