Immersive Design Summit announcements, Meow Wolf’s new app, a wild ARG, news from The VOID/ILMxLAB, and more
No Proscenium and Everything Immersive This Week is brought to you by:

It’s been another busy week here in immersive-land. The VOID/ILMxLAB announced their five (!) upcoming projects will leverage IP from both Disney and Marvel, starting with Wreck-It Ralph. Our friends over at the Future of Storytelling Festival announced the finalists for the FoST Prize. A hearty congratulations to HBO, Giant Spoon, and Mycotoo who won an Emmy for their work on #SXSWestworld. Meow Wolf dropped an unexpected surprise into the Google Play Store and Apple App Stores: an AR app that works both within and outside of the House of Eternal Return.
And over at No Proscenium, we’ve got reviews coming in from LA, NYC, Paris, and London this week, with much much more on the way as Spooky Season starts off with a bang. And the fine folks over at Room Escape Artist reviewed both the Edison Room in San Francisco and Stash House in LA.
We’ve also been playing a very mysterious alternate reality game with ARGN which involves a YouTube vlogger, a missing persons case, a mysterious comic book company, a man who may or may not be a superhero, and a Telex machine (what?). It’s all set to culminate in something at New York Comic Con, so count us intrigued.
And lucky for us, the great David Wally of Mycotoo came on the podcast to talk about his work on immersive marketing activations like Blade Runner 2049, #SXSWestworld, and The Inkhole, as well as his background in film, theme parks, and haunts.
Oh, what else? Just some Immersive Design Summit news.

IMMERSIVE DESIGN SUMMIT NEWS
In 2018, the Immersive Design Summit brought together some of the leading creators in the immersive arts to share thoughts and ideas, creating new friendships and inspiring new projects.
We’re happy to announce our home for the next Immersive Design Summit will be the lovely Swedish American Music Hall in San Francisco, CA. We’ll be taking over the entire venue on February 22–23, 2019. We can’t wait to meet you there!
Applications to attend the Immersive Design Summit go live on October 18 and stay open until November 15. People from underrepresented backgrounds will be especially encouraged to apply. We’ll also announce pricing on October 18.
Stay tuned for more announcements in the coming months, including speakers and sign up for the email list at immersivedesignsummit.com.

David Wally, Chief Creative Officer of Mycotoo — the design firm that collaborated with marketing agency Giant Spoon on the SXSWestworld and InkHole activations — joins us to talk origin stories: of the Westworld activation, Mycotoo, and his own journey from filmmaker to theme park and immersive designer.
