The Poe Asylum is an immersive theatrical adaptation of short stories and poems by Edgar Allan Poe. Each audience member will move from room to room in this asylum, watching and listening as stories of horror unfold. One patient recounts his imprisonment and torture in “The Pit and the Pendulum.” A mother mourns for her lost child, only to be taunted by an enigmatic figure in “The Raven.” Across five different stories, patients of The Poe Asylum deal with paranoia, alcoholism, claustrophobia, insomnia, and other haunting maladies. But these tales are just fictional stories told by troubled minds. What is the true pain lurking behind the words of these men and women? The audience will have to ponder if these individuals are really patients in a mental asylum, or if they are simply wounded individuals trapped in their own minds by the demons they created. And then comes the greatest question of all: where is hope?

Experience five immersive scenes and three movement-driven performances that tie together the inhabitants of The Poe Asylum and their stories. We ask you to come to the asylum with an open mind and an open heart, for the terrors that each patient must endure could one day belong to any of us.
