Come to The Performing Garage this month to experience virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) projects from the Polish VR collective Dream Adoption Society. The residency culminates with the premiere of their new work, Białoszewski/Ginsberg VR, produced by NOWY TEATR. And on Fridays and Saturdays throughout August leading up to the premiere, see three earlier DAS pieces at the Garage. Admission to all events is free.
Białoszewski/Ginsberg VR: What happened in Warsaw in 1965 when Miron Białoszewski, one of the most private poets of the 20th century, received a visit from America’s favorite guru-activist-poet Allen Ginsberg? Białoszewski/Ginsberg explores possible stories, counterfactual narratives and alternative realities through the use of performance art, VR technology, and mockumentary film. August 31 — September 2; Friday and Saturday 4:00 pm — 9:00 pm; Sunday 2:00 pm — 6:00 pm
Locus Solus: A VR installation inspired by Raymond Roussel′s novel of the same title. August 10–11; 4:00 pm — 8:30 pm daily. Make a reservation.
The Artist Is [All But] Present: An AR performance in which the “spectactor” meets and collaborates with Leron Miszek — an avatar (live/real-time 3D scan) of Miron Białoszewski — to create his/her own piece of ephemeral, playful word poetry. August 17–18; 4:00 pm — 8:30 pm daily. Make a reservation.
New Territory: A real-time, multiplayer, VR theater performance based on texts by Tadeusz Miciński that combines Gear VR, HTC Vive, actors’ performances, choreography, and live music from a VR application to achieve an immersive theater experience. August 24–25; 4:00 pm — 8:30 pm daily. Make a reservation.
