The Intergalactic Travel Bureau (ITB) is a pop-up agency that has provided an inspirational and whimsical interactive experience for tens of thousands of visitors in the United States and Great Britain. Through one-on-one consultations with trained travel agents, many of whom have PhDs in space sciences or engineering, members of the public enjoy the freedom to dream about space travel and question its impact on humankind. The experience begins with a simple question: where would you like to go? The windswept red plains of Mars, to dig for signs of life? How about one of Jupiter’s 64 moons, to take Polaroid snaps of the swirling red storms of its atmosphere?
No destination is too far out there for our travel agents. In the process of planning your next vacation, scientific questions about space that seemed inconsequential before suddenly become relevant and exciting to the average citizen.
