NEW YORK CITY

Staff Pick of the Week: Aerobanquets RMX

Maybe the most confusing show I’ve seen in years, it’s continued to grow on me. Abstract but easy to follow, it’s made me consider both my relationship with food and my relationship with VR, while still being a delicious and whimsical journey. This is Aerobanquets first time in the US — see it here if you can, and wherever it lands next if you can’t. — Blake Weil, NYC Curator

Also picked by correspondent Michaela Holland.

I mean, this goes without saying. And we’d be anticipating it even if we hadn’t been graced with the ability to go. We’d just be anticipating it in that FOMO way. What will the cutting edge of immersive art & tech look like two years from now? We’ll find out next week. — Noah Nelson, Founder and Publisher

LOS ANGELES

Staff Pick of the Week: It’s A Doggy Dog World, Level Games

It’s A Doggy Dog World is a whimsical dog-themed escape room where you play as a dog whose favorite red ball has been stolen by your nemesis: the mailman. Your job is to figure out how to get out of the house and find your precious red ball! Unfortunately for you, the doggy door is locked and some nasty cats have stolen your collar… and you only have a set amount of time before your owner gets home. This playful game had us crawling on all fours and thinking like a canine would, which included NoPro’s LA Reviews Editor Kevin Gossett barking out loud. Two paws up; would sniff again. — Kathryn Yu, Executive Editor

Staff Most Anticipated: Three

You know that when I’m not mainlining pop culture I like it arty and weird. So how does an acrobatic version of Satre’s No Exit with non-traditional staging and no dialogue sound? It sounds like Noah Nelson’s next great night out, that’s what! I’ll see you at the show. — Noah Nelson, Founder and Publisher UPDATE: This was a proscenium show. Not sure if something changed because of the venue, but it wasn’t what we were pitched.

VIRTUAL REALITY

Staff Most Anticipated: The Walking Dead: SAINTS AND SINNERS

Releasing January 23rd, TWD:S&S is Skydance and Skybound’s love-child to the world of zombies, humans, and tough questions. I’m not the kind that enjoys the variable violence gameplay portrayed in the trailer, but rather the hard moral dilemmas strewn about the narrative in this game that are sure to rattle my still-alive bones. —Will Cherry, XR correspondent
