Maze Room LA’s “They’re Coming” (Source: Maze Rooms)

It’s the last Picks of the Week before we head off for a long winter’s nap. Although from the looks of it, many of you — and our staff — are already hibernating.

Below you will find Staff Picks and Most Anticipated, and picks from patrons and friends of the site. All linked for your convenience.

Staff Pick of the Week: They’re Coming at Maze Rooms LA

It starts off as an ordinary escape room where maybe the owner isn’t as nice a guy as he seems… and then all hell breaks loose as the undead rise in the heart of Los Angeles. They’ve have broken into the venue! They’re pounding on the door! A love letter to zombie films, They’re Coming combines clever puzzles, fun special effects, and a host of movie-related Easter Eggs for fans of the genre to uncover. — Kathryn Yu, executive editor

Staff Most Anticipated: A nap, anywhere really

I’m alone in a room, the light is dim and somewhere in the distance a siren fades. The air is thick and frigid, heightening my awareness of my every movement. Then I see it. Seemingly discarded off-hand, an afterthought from its last job: a big-ass blanket. Wrap. Wrap. Snug. Snug. Then it’s off to almost dreamland. What sights there will be to see. Ah, winter. Even in LA. — Noah Nelson, your very sleepy publisher

Bonus Most Anticipated: The Builder and the Dove at the Skirball Center

Okay, so why is this not the “most anticipated” for the week por moi? Especially when the Builder in question is, ahem, and the designers are the folks behind the absolutely amazing Escape From Godot? Because it’s a kid show, and I don’t have kids. So I technically can’t anticipate it because it is not for me. But if YOU have kids — or know someone who does who has long been curious about all this stuff — you should go check it out and tell me how it is. I’m betting it’s good. — Noah “Like the ark” Nelson, Publisher

Virtual Reality

Staff Most Anticipated: Star Trek: Bridge Crew (Oculus Quest)

I got to check this out back when it was first being demo’d at the dawn of the new VR age. It was neat then, and I’ve never had the gear to play. But before I jump in and throw money I don’t really have at this thing — hello, credit cards — I’m gonna need a crew. So: who’s ready to beam up? — Admiral Noah Nelson, Third Fleet

Guest Most Anticipated: Twin Peaks: The VR Experience (Oculus Rift)

I love Twin Peaks, and the idea of being able to explore locations from the show in VR makes me want to sell my soul and live in the Black Lodge forever. Annie, are you okay? — Jeff Heimbuch, HorrorBuzz
