Kingdom of Oz draws inspiration from the personal lives of the two primary Oz authors: L. Frank Baum and Philadelphia’s own, Ruth Plumly Thompson — as well as the second book in the Oz series, The Marvelous Land of Oz. The experience guides players through a series of real world clues and discovered audio messages that will lead down a path to a greater understanding of the world that surrounds them. Kingdom of Oz is our version of an alternate reality game, in which the creators of the Oz stories may not be who they say they are, and the doorway to Oz is closer than you imagine. Players’ curiosity will be rewarded with clues about the location of the piece and insight into the characters of our live Oz follow up. The Kingdom of Oz experience combines found and written text, found and recorded audio, and images to explore that idea that all magic is science we simply don’t understand…yet. Players explore the lives of Frank and Ruth, Frank’s connection to Theosophy, and the possibility that Oz may be more than just a figment of the writers’ imaginations. REAL Immersive’s Kingdom of Oz will be available online, as part of the Philadelphia Digital Fringe festival starting on September 5th, 2019.

Kingdom of Oz is an exclusively virtual experience, available online starting September 5th, as part of the 2019 Philadelphia Digital Fringe Festival. The experience will be available through the end of 2019 and will be a preamble to our first live immersive experience coming in December 2019.
