Istituto Italiano di Cultura and DLT announce “Theatre On-Call” a festival of contemporary, interactive performances occurring over the phone and other digital platforms, a way of keeping connected during these uncertain times.
While we are unable to connect physically during these times of social isolation, we can and will continue to connect- with our voices. Envisioned as a sort of counter virus, that spreads generating artistic responses and connecting and supporting audiences and artists.
Please check site for schedule of performances, which include:
• The Human Voice: An adaptation of Jean Cocteau’s masterpiece for the phone with Danya Buonastella. Set in Paris, this monodrama sees a woman on the phone with her lover of the last five years the night before he marries another woman.
• Decameron Tomorrow: Bridging with Italy this event will connect audiences with acclaimed Italian actor Anna Amadori. She will give a performance reflecting on the current state of things in Italy and the value of the Decameron to build community based work.
• The Invisible City: You receive a call. You are now connected to the Invisible City Hotline, with 5 people you may never meet again. A friendly voice invites you all to connect and to speak about life, your hopes and fears, and your dreams for the future. People on call may join in from different cities or countries.
• Bedtime Stories (Family Programming): Families join interactive storytelling over the phone. A way of coming together in a time of social distancing. A collection of stories as you get comfy in your bed.
• Inferno: Every night a different story from Dante’s masterpiece.
