Journey to Bethlehem is an interactive walking tour from Nazareth to Bethlehem. The journey recreates the events leading up to the evening of Christ’s birth. Your family with be more than just observers, you will become part of the story!
For safe passage through Roman territory, you will be issued “travel papers” from the Map Maker, who will direct you on your pilgrimage to pay your taxes and be counted in Caesar’s census. Along the way, you will encounter various inhabitants and sojourners of the land. The mysterious appearance of an “angel” who announced the birth of Christ will amaze and delight. You will speak with the shepherds and meet the Wise Men who are also seeking the Christ child. Your journey will also be filled with encounters with Roman soldiers, both on horseback and on patrol teams. They will order you to comply with Roman law. The sights, sounds, and aromas of the Bethlehem marketplace will quick your spirit and fill your senses. The culmination of the trip finds you visiting the Inn where there is no room for your family to sleep, and finally, the manger where you will find the Christ child, Mary, and Joseph.
This is an outdoor walking journey! December evenings can be cold, damp, and foggy. Appropriate dress for the outdoors will help you enjoy the journey.
