NEW YORK CITY
Staff Pick of the Week: A Cocktail Party Social ExperimentThe title says it all: one part cocktail party, one part social experiment, plus a surprise party GAME! You can choose to put yourself in the running to play the game or just observe, but both are a fantastic way to participate in this relational experience. I’ve been a few times now and always leave with new friends and a new look into the human experience. —Allie Marotta, NYC correspondent
LOS ANGELES
Staff Pick of the Week: The Museum of Jurassic TechnologyWhy have we never done a proper write-up on The Museum of Jurassic Technology? Is it because it is in Culver City? Because it has been calling itself a Museum since long before that was a hip thing to do? Or perhaps it is because we’ve been going to this legendary spot for a glimpse into a time that never was since long before there was a NoPro. Yeah, that’s the one. Maybe you’ve never been. Take the lull in the local action to correct that this weekend. — Noah Nelson, Founder/Publisher
Staff Most Anticipated: Thought Experiments in F# MinorI’m finally getting a chance to check out Janet Cardiff and George Bures Miller’s augmented reality video tour of the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Downtown LA; in this immersive experience, attendees are issued an iPad and a pair of headphones and go on a 40-minute self guided tour of the famous music venue. (You might know these artists from other works as Her Long Black Hair, A Murder of Crows, or Forty Part Motet). Given how great their other pieces have been, I look forward to seeing how they blur the lines between reality and fiction within this architectural masterpiece. — Kathryn Yu, Executive Editor

Staff Pick of the Week: Screensavers VRNow that I’ve got my Oculus Link working with my gaming PC and Quest, I’m diving into all of the different experiences for the Rift available on the Oculus Store, including this gem by FLOAT LAND. For anybody who grew up on Windows 3.1, being able to enter your favorite screensavers but in spatial reality is literally a blast from the past, one filled with flying toasters and endless starfields. — Kathryn Yu, Executive Editor
