For years now Juggerknot Theatre Company has flown the banner for meaningful immersive theatre & experiences in Miami. While the company was founded in 1998, it was the 2017 Miami Motel Stories which first put them on our map, and the series gained national attention as they built the program year over year.

In 2025 the company made a big bet on the next generation of immersive talent by putting together the Miami Immersive Intensive, a series of workshops and talks, as a co-production with Live Arts Miami

This year the Intensive is expanding into a four day event — June 4-7 — capped by the first Miami Immersive Summit. This year’s event doubles down on the premise and the promise of broadening the field of practitioners in the immersive & experiential arts, and helping those already in the field to shape their own career destinies. Juggerknot and Live Arts Miami are bringing in an incredible roster of established and rising talent to train, inform, and inspire the close knit cohort of the Intensive, and the broader audience of the Summit.

THE INTENSIVE

For the first three days of the event over a dozen teaching artists — including Jennine Willett & Zach Morris, Co-Artistic Directors of Third Rail Projects; Mikhael Tara Garver, founder of Culture House Immersive; Lincoln Center Collider Fellow and XR choreographer Brandon Powers; Sadah Espii Proctor, the Director of Immersive Media at South Florida PBS; Juan C. Sanchez the playwright for all the Miami Motel Stories, Juggerknot's signature event; and Abraham Burickson, co-founder of Odyssey Works — will be on hand at Miami Dade College's Wolfson Campus for a training camp of unprecedented depth and scope.

The Intensive is purposefully limited to an 80-person cohort, which helps foster long term network building amongst the cohort and teaching artists. This offers not only emerging and mid-career artists an incredible opportunity, but means that performers, directors, designers, producers, and presenters looking to expand their work into the immersive & experiential field are getting a chance to step into this world with a built in community.

Along with the training sessions and talks, The Immersive Experience Institute will conduct one of their signature Next Stage Salons, and every night of the Intensive will feature a group outing to explore Miami’s vibrant arts scene.

The whole four-day package, which includes the Summit, costs just $495.

Speaking of the Summit…

THE SUMMIT

On the final day of the Intensive, the event expands into the first ever Miami Immersive Summit, tapping Intensive teachers like Mikhael Tara Garver and Zach Morris and adding even more to the event lineup.

That will include Asher Young, Executive Producer and Creative Director of Masquerade, currently on a historic run in New York City; director Andrew Scoville and technology director Heidi Boisvert of David Byrne’s Theater of the Mind, the groundbreaking experience co-created with Mala Gaonkar now presented in Chicago by the Goodman Theatre; Jennifer Bascom, Creative Director for Disney Live Entertainment with Disney Signature Experiences, and experiential real estate expert Lanné Bennett with more being added to the lineup ahead of the event.

As a standalone one-day event, the Summit is the best professional deal in the immersive arts, meaning that whether you’re looking to expand your knowledge of and connections in the field or take your first steps into the professional side of this business, you won’t find a better opportunity. Summit tickets are just $175.

PUNCHDRUNK @ HOME

For those who can’t make it to Miami but don’t want to be totally left out of the mix, a standalone virtual workshop from Punchdrunk is happening on June 5th. Casey Jay Andrews, designer of Viola's Room and The Burnt City will take a deep-dive into the Punchdrunk design process, with the session offered online for just $45.

THE NEXT GENERATION STARTS IN MIAMI

What’s most exciting about all this to me, and why I’m so glad to be taking part, is that this event marks the beginning of the next generation of immersive creatives and will establish new voices in the field on the Intensive and Summit stages.

Growing the base of practitioners and putting the spotlight on emerging voices is the way to build a stronger future for the immersive arts, and that’s exactly what those who come to the Miami Immersive events are going to be a part of.

The Miami Immersive Intensive runs June 4-7, 2026. The Miami Immersive Summit is on June 7, 2026. Explore the full schedule and program details at www.miamiimmersiveintensive.com.
