Down In The Uncanny Valley is an immersive “installation play” about the future of love and relationships in a world where people have started uploading themselves into robot bodies. In the near-future to keep up with the artificial intelligence arms race and survive a changing planet, many people are opting to have their minds uploaded into silicone based android or “Siloid” bodies. But what parts of our humanity do we lose in the process? How do our relationships change when one, or both of us are no longer quite the same? Could we even tell? Down in the Uncanny Valley explores how the technology “singularity” -joining of bodies, minds and computers may advance our way of life. It follows five people with entwined lives and relationships, some of whom who are now synthetic, some who are holding on to being organic.
Please note: this performance includes suggested scenes of sexualized violence, low visibility, haze, and strobe. This is not a seated performance. Seating will be provided for audience members with mobility needs.
