The Rosina Project is a contemporary adaptation of Rossini’s opera The Barber of Seville that mixes Hip-Hop MCs, opera singers, and street-dance artists with a live DJ and Beatboxer to perform an original female-driven story of empowerment and interracial friendship as an immersive house party.
Opera arias have occasionally been adapted into Hip-Hop form, but no one has ever applied Hip-Hop’s varied musical styles, eclectic dance moves and vibrant street culture to an operatic work in its entirety. The Rosina Project continues the development of the operatic form by creating a kinesthetic opera experience out of Rossini’s classic work ‘The Barber of Seville’.
Limited seating available; audience members are asked to stand if possible.
