Meredith Treinen, in collaboration with the cast, has designed an experience to “explore our attachment to and participation in binary gender identities.”

Press Release Follows

LOS ANGELES, CA (March 4, 2019) LA-based creator Meredith Treinen is proud to announce Release, devised in collaboration with Juliet Deem, Deanna Noe, Jessica Emmanuel, Matthew Maguire, Scott Monahan, and Zachary Sanders.

Release operates as a live gallery experience — using movement, collaged text, and personal storytelling to explore gendered experience. Using personal experience as a jumpstart, Meredith and her collaborators have generated work grounded in duality, identity, and the relationships we have to both.

This piece aims to uncover and explore our attachment to and participation in binary gender identities. Creating work in separate gendered silos, the casts of men and women come together for the piece to create a dialogue with each other and the audience.

Release is a site-adaptive work with a non-traditional viewing experience. Guests will be expected to stand or walk through the duration of the performance. This performance is ADA accessible.
