A whole neighborhood will be transformed as four city blocks become the backdrop for an experiential journey into historic Japantown’s origins and future. Historic storefronts will be transformed into their past selves. You’ll venture through Japantown pounding mochi, playing old-school Japanese card games, trying on traditional outfits, encountering environments and people from the past, and more.
Japantown Immersive will see the return of Swingposium, a taiko/swing-dancing celebration takes guests into the swing dance events that blossomed amidst the hardships of the Japanese-American internment camps. Swingposium blends a 30-piece brass band, taiko drums, swing dance, and immersive theatre.
