March 12, 2020 was a bad day. One day after the NBA suspended its season, which is when the depth of the COVID-19 crisis really started to dawn on America as a whole.
It also was the date of the one and only performance of Ceaseless Fun’s Everyone Agrees It’s About to Explode, which had been in development for a year and aimed to channel some of the revolutionary fervor of the Trump era into an immersive theatre piece.
Filmmaker Nic Murphy captured the performance that night, which also stands as the last work before LA’s Ceaseless Fun went on indefinite hiatus. The fifteen-minute documentary that was released today captures performance and behind-the-scenes footage that acts as a flashback to a very particular moment in time.

As the Covid-19 pandemic threatens to shutter Ceaseless Fun’s 2020 immersive theater production of EVERYONE AGREES IT’S ABOUT TO EXPLODE, Cloak of Fiction documents the first (and only) performance. What came next was indeed an explosion — during which this short was edited.
